Hello Everyone,
Ramadan Mubarak!
I know it's been a year since my last post, which was actually a Ramadan Resources post. My only excuse is I've had writers block and nothing seemed to inspire me to write.
Lately I've been watching videos about this holy month and wanted to do something different. Usually I share resources you can use, but this year I want to dig deeper.
What Do You Want To Get this Ramadan?
Ramadan is such a blessed month. It's the month where the gates to heaven are wide open, you get the most forgiveness and the most reward. For you as an individual:
what do you want to have achieved this Ramadan?
How have you changed from your last Ramadan?
What do you want to have accomplished this year? What is your goal?
Below is the video by Hadaf Podcast where these thought provoking questions came from.
Personally, I want this to be the Ramadan where I become a better person. Last year I learnt more about the power of dua and dhikr and since them I've increased the amount I do. This year I want to my life to change for the better and move forward. I want to strengthen my taqwa, my faith in Allah (SWT) and be able to do the things that I want to, but am scared that. Allah (SWT) is the greatest of planners, so I want unyielding faith in that even if it looks like the wrong path on paper.
What About The Qur'an?
Yes, Ramadan is the month the Qur'an was first revealed to us. Yes, our rewards are increased each letter we read. Yes, people aim to finish the entire Qur'an in Ramadan. However, the Qur'an is more than that. It can also be used for guidance.
Below is a trailer for Dr Haifa Younis Jannah Institute's new Ramadan Series: The Qur'an:
Every year I try to read as much of the Qur'an as possible. Last year I downloaded the Quranly app and still use it today, mainly to read the night time surahs and Surah Kahf on Fridays. This year, I want the words I'm reading to guide me, to understand how it relates to my everyday life, not just a piece of holy scripture.
What Can You Actually Do?
If you need help with coming up with ideas of what you can realistically do differently this Ramadan, watch this video with tips from Aisha Risealie:
Lastly, here is the first episode of Yaqeen Institute's new Ramadan Series: Understanding You:
I know for me this series looks exciting. I've been lost and unsure of myself in my current stage in life. So, a series where I learn about the purpose of who we are and how we are is needed. Especially with the way the world is right now.
That's everything I wanted to share with you this Ramadan. I hope you found the post beneficial. May you be able to achieve everything you wish to this Ramadan. Ameen.
